Have you ever lost your dream job?

Emily Calandrelli was finishing a master’s degree at MIT when she got a call from a production company about hosting a space exploration show. She loved the experience on the show so much that she started pitching her own show ideas to networks and streaming platforms.

She was thrilled when Netflix greenlit her kid-friendly science experiment series, “Emily’s Wonderlab.” But her excitement turned to devastation when the streaming giant decided to cancel the show after one season.

When Emily decided to start posting content on her own social media, she got a huge response and soon realized she didn't need Netflix.

“A lot of times in our career, we’re waiting on somebody else's validation to do something,” said Calandrelli, also known as “The Space Gal” across social media.

Watch the video for more on how Calandrelli got past getting canceled, took control of her career and found success on her own terms.
