Alexis Duran is a Southern California native, educator, and award-winning filmmaker. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Film and Digital Media from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and an MFA in Film and TV Production from San Diego State University.

Alexis has a strong foundation in TV news broadcasting, having worked as an operations technician for NBC San Diego 7.

As a freelance filmmaker and founder of Oxford&Claire Productions, he has filmed and directed documentaries and episodic content for prominent outlets such as BBC Three, USA Today, Bloomberg, NowThis, The Wall Street Journal, Al Jazeera (AJ+), The Weather Channel, Business Insider, Facebook, OnlyGoodTV, LinkedIn, Future Studios/Barcroft Media, HubSpot, Truly, Voice of America (VOA), PBS, and TED.

His work as a writer and director on short narrative films has gained international recognition. His 2018 film, Bye Luna, was selected by twelve festivals, won two U.S. awards, and was invited to screen at the Short Film Corner at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. His 2021 film, Forgetting Caroline, screened at the Austin Film Festival and the San Diego International Film Festival.

In addition to his filmmaking career, Alexis is an adjunct professor in the Film, Television & Media Arts department at Southwestern College and teaches Film Studies at Miramar College.
